Born Babatunde Olusegun Odumosu, he changed his name to Alvar Oladipupo Olatunde in May 2001.
The name Alvar was after an Architect he admired. Oladipupo, a name he was given by mum. He was the 3rd child and only boy of our parents.
Alvar/Tunde always wanted to be an Architect. He achieved his dream to become one. As a child, he would make models of houses from cardboards. He worked on private projects and public ones too. These included buildings like schools, prisons, and also multi story office blocks. He was a very hardworking person, right from childhood.
Alvar/Tunde enjoyed travelling. It was a major passion for him. He visited at least of 24 European countries and many other countries outside of Europe. He went to places like USA, Taiwan, Canada, Dubai and many many more places. He went to Israel, where he visited to the Sea of Galilee and walked the footsteps of Jesus. He visited Petra in Jordan. He also visited Christ The Redeemer in Brazil. Alvar/Tunde loved to watch waterfalls and snow and would spend long periods watching nature programmes on these. Some of the places he travelled to were inspired by this.
Alvar/Tunde loved fine foods and like to eat out. For a long while he never cooked. I remember when he tried to boil an egg many years ago, the egg somehow managed to find its way all over the ceiling! I remember the time he burnt a whole pot of mum’s stew to ashes! He avoided cooking as in his own words he did not want to get food poisoning. We his sisters did much of the cooking for him. Only in the past few years did he learn how to cook. He could even make ‘Ayamashe’! He often sent images of his foods. This was a shock to us all!
Alvar/Tunde’s love for God was so real. He loved Jesus and spoke about him like a physical friend. He was uber passionate about the Gospel and he would spread it whenever he could. A friend told us he once took her on a ‘Molue’ bus in Nigeria to preach! Alvar/Tunde was a great intercessor. This was an easy thing for him. He could go 6 hours non-stop! You don’t get into a conversation with him without knowing your facts. Especially ones that have to do with Christ or the Bible.
He had a mind of his own. He was very assertive . He was sure of who he was and very confident, sometimes a bit too much. LOL! But we loved him still! We’ve heard so many stories from people who met him. He always left an impression on everyone he met!
Alvar/Tunde, though absent in the body, is present with the LORD!!!
We love you, we miss you. Our hearts feel totally shattered into pieces… but we take solace in the fact that you are in a good place. One day, we shall see again.
Adieu…………..
